Seats
The majority of 3 wheel double buggies start as single pushchairs. However, some models can be converted to accept a second seat with adapters. You'll also find that some models allow you to include a ride-onboard for older children who wish to walk, but need a little help.
If you're looking for a lightweight option that's great for urban streets, look into the Joie Evalite Duo. It is easy to maneuver and has a large basket with lots of storage. Suspension
The quality of the suspension on a 3 wheel double buggy is essential to how it will be easy for you and your baby/s to push. A smooth ride is vital because babies feel every bump on the road, especially if it's on rough terrain such as grass or dirt roads. Certain models come with locking front tires to assist in maneuvering and getting over obstacles like curbs.
Some models have tyres with air filled that are great for all-terrain riding, however they are prone to punctures. Make sure you keep an extra set of tyres in the trunk. Some models have foam or gel-filled tyres that are designed to cushion bumps. They are less likely to puncture, but they could be uncomfortable for your child if you decide to jog.

MFM reviewer Kath took the Urban Glide 2 through its paces with her newborn and 3 year old son, and found it was able to handle difficult terrain: "it navigated effortlessly over grass and bumpy pavements, cobbles and dirt tracks effortlessly and was easy to manoeuvre around corners and go up and down kerbs. It's also very comfortable to jog on, thanks to the 16" rear wheels and lockable swivel front wheel providing a safe running experience." The Urban Glide 2 is loaded with features as well, including a spacious basket with a zip-top cover, large padded seat unit and a 50+ UV hood, and game-changing lights that are easy to use and rechargeable.
Folding
A three-wheel double buggy can be folded in a neat manner to store it. There are options that fold flat and stand up (as when they were in a pushchair) and also ones that pop out to reveal an umbrella-style fold with an electric brake. The more wheels a buggy has, generally the easier it will be to maneuver through rough terrain. This is especially true if the wheels are larger than the typical size. You will have more stability and it's less likely that you will need to tip over or flip your child.

A popular choice is the iCandy Wave, which can be used from birth with an infant car seat and then converts to a side-by-side double buggy once your child is old enough to allow them to sit next to each one. It's a light-feeling option which makes it easy to push and is packed with extra features, including raincover and a bumper bar.
The phil&teds sports is an alternative option. It is future-proof as it's an excellent buggy, and can be modified to accommodate two (or three!) All of this is incorporated into its small footprint. It's compatible with a wide range of infant car seats and has an easy-to-pull-out undercarriage bag that can be used to stash shopping. It's on the costly side, but has a few notable features that make it an excellent value choice, including its slick one-click fold and lots of extras, such as a bumper bar and raincover.
Storage
One thing that people appreciate about a good 3-wheel double buggy is the storage capacity. Some models like the Roma Atlas offer a generously-sized basket and 2 handy zip pockets on the hood to keep your keys and phone easily accessible. It's also designed to deal with a bit of rough terrain, so it's a great choice for family walks and all-terrain walks.
Other models, like the UPPAbaby Vista 2, offer plenty of space and the possibility of transporting twins or a toddler and a child. (This is possible thanks to their 'PiggyBack' board). It's the slimmest side-by-side double available and comes with some impressive tech including game-changing LED visibility lights that change on each side of the buggy frame to increase safety in low light conditions.
